I am so appreciative of all the work and enthusiasm our camp staff and volunteers are giving our camp this year. Things are really looking
Before we dive into the priority projects for August, let’s have a big virtual round of applause for our properties volunteers, who have been tirelessly
We’re all about encouraging boys and girls to make friends, be helpful to others, and do their very best no matter the outcome. With the help of powerful learning projects and exciting outdoor activities, we aim to teach children that doing their best can be a fun and rewarding experience—no matter the difficulty of the challenge.
When you join, you’ll be part of a club of local families all called a PACK. Packs are made up of lots of children, boys and girls, in grades K-5. There is one adult called a “Cubmaster” who helps lead pack meetings, usually once per month. This person is also a great resource for questions and help.
Each grade level is given a special animal name, and grouped into a DEN. These families work together to achieve grade-specific goals that are in your handbook. Each den has an adult called a “Den Leader” who helps coordinate the activities – but the responsibility of helping plan events is shared by all the parents. Dens usually meet once or twice a month.
In addition to local Pack and Den events, there are a lot of opportunities to participate in regional events. We’re part of the Southeast Minnesota regional group, called “GAMEHAVEN COUNCIL”. The Council has a bunch of volunteer and professional “Scouters” to help you with advice, and to lead events. Every year, Cubs can attend lots of different free or reduced cost events. You can find all of them on the Council Calendar.
Unlike many sports and clubs, Cubs run for the entire year – covered by an annual registration fee. While your local pack may take a break during the summer, the regional group has summer camps, activities, and more to participate in.
FUNDRAISING
Many families are able to significantly offset the cost of registration through our twice-annual product sale opportunities. Our spring sale (flowers and chocolate) and our fall sale (popcorn) are amazing ways to learn salesmanship, get out in the community, and cover the cost of registration, pack dues, and events!
SCOUT SCHOLARSHIPS
Families with multiple scouts or in challenging financial situations can apply for funding to cover up to 50% of their annual registration. You can learn more about this process on our forms page.
What do you need to be a Cub Scout? There are several things to make your new adventure successful! Our Uniform Starter Kit contains everything you need for a new Cub Scout uniform.
The official Cub Scout uniform consists of the following items:
The following optional items can be purchased and worn from the Scout Shop:
In addition to the uniform above, your pack may have or sell “Activity Uniforms” – a pack T-Shirt that you can wear to less formal events like camps.
