Merit Badge Rally event - Saturday October 28, 2023

LOCATION: Minnesota State College Southeast – 1250 Homer Road, Winona, MN.

DETAILS: Below are the classes that are being offered and the pre-requisites that a Scout will need to complete prior to attending class. A reminder that many classes request that you bring copy of worksheet, pen and paper.   By doing the pre-requisites before attending and participating in the class you should be able to complete the merit badge(s) you signed up for. First Aid MB and Woodworking MB are all day classes

REGISTRATION OPENS: Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 6am      

Scout Waiver – For all Scouts that will be in the CNC Lab, Welding, Construction, and Electronics Labs, we are asking the parents to sign a waiver, allowing their child to participate in these courses. A copy of the waiver is below. Please print a copy and sign it for your Scout attending any of those classes. Waivers will be turned in the day of check-in. A scout signed up for a class requiring a waiver will not be able to attend the class without one.  Thank you.

  • Pre-req’s include- Download Worksheet -Complete before class, requirement #1, #2, #6, #7, #8 and bring #9 to class. Scouts should also have  notebook and pen. If they don’t bring their collection they should have plenty of photos to share their results.

  • Additional cost of $5 for CPR Mouth piece.
  • Pre-req’s include- reading the Merit badge book and  Download Worksheet – A Scout who signs up for this class should have current knowledge of all first aid requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class, and First Class ranks.         Also, note that requirement #5b can be done prior to class, but you need to have your Troop leader inspect your troop’s first aid kit with you and report your findings to your counselor and Scout Leader. 

GAME DESIGN MERIT BADGE

  • Pre-req’s include- Download Worksheet – Pre-req’s are #1a, #1b, #3, #4a, #4b, #4c. Also it is highly recommended to create your game (a b oard, card, dexterity or physically active game during the MB Rally. If a Scout intends to design a Video game they need to get prior approval from the counselor.  The approval will require demonstration and competency in programming language, or game making tools and a rough plan to test and modify the game in a timely manner.

LEATHERWORK MERIT BADGE

  • 12 Scouts in class
  • Counselor- John Lechner
  • Additional cost $10 for kit.
  • Pre-req’s include- Download Worksheet – and bring it to class.   No pre-req’s to do prior to class.

RADIO MERIT BADGE

  • PM Class
  • 10 Scouts in class
  • Counselor- Lou Behrens
  • Pre-req’s include- Download Worksheet –  and complete as much as possible from the MB book.  Be prepared for discussion and explanation.  The focus of this MB session will be on sections 1-8 & 9a (amateur radio).

RAILROADING MERIT BADGE

  • Pre-req’s include- Download Worksheet – and bring it to class. Pre-reqs are #4 and #5.  The time you would have been doing this sport would be in this past year. Please EMAIL Steve and your Scoutmaster the two sports  you are choosing prior to attending Class.   

WELDING MERIT BADGE

  • Pre-req’s include- Download Worksheet – and bring it to class. Wear clothes acceptable for welding (natural fiber long pants, gloves, safety glasses, boot/closed leather shoes) Don’t wear any synthetic fabrics
